The Art of Racing in the Rain is a must read for all dog owners!

Imagine a more dramatic Marley and Me written from the dog’s perspective and you get The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.

A friend of mine picked it up at Starbucks and said I had to read it. He was right! As a dog lover and owner and a fan of Formula 1 racing, I connected with the book. I clearly recalled most of the Formula 1 races and events mentioned in the book. Moreover, the story is incredibly touching. In many ways it reminded me of Will Smith’s The Pursuit of Happyness given the uphill struggle Denny faces during the entire book. I don’t think I cried as much in years. I was balling reading it on the train from Port Washington to New York!

Read it, you won’t regret it!

  • LOL, funny you mention it. Last weekend I was considering getting “The Art of Racing in the Rain” for my dad, which happens to be a hard core F1 fan. It is been a while since F1 thrilled me as much as to set my alarm to 3 AM to watch it live, somehow I lost interest (going back to skydiving must had something to do with it).

However last year’s season was incredible. It’s been years since I saw anything like it, and the finale, my god, breath taking (I was vouching for Hamilton thou). Gonna follow your suggestion and get a copy for myself, maybe that is the little push I need to make myself set that alarm at weird times again (much to the dislike of my better half!).

  • He he. I suggested it to Fabrice. I am glad he liked it. I haven’t felt so moved reading a book since I read “One Hundred Years of Solitude” for the first time like I did after reading “The Art of Racing in the Rain”. 🙂
